Youngsters visit steam railway

Pupils from Bo’ness Public School had a great day out – exploring the Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway.

The visit – which included a trip on a vintage train – was organised by Maria Ford, chair of The Friends of Kinneil, with funding support from the Bo’ness Real Ale Appreciation Society. The Friends have been working with the children on local history projects and the publication of two books.

Youngsters from primary 2/3 and primary 4 visited The Museum of Scottish Railways before boarding a train to Manuel. The kids then hopped off at Kinneil Halt on the way back to explore the Kinneil Nature Reserve.

The fun day out ended with lunch at the Corbie Inn in Bo’ness, including drinks and ice cream – plus a visit from Provost Pat Reid.

Pictures from the day are available on our Facebook page and also below. A big thanks to the SRPS, Corbie Inn and our Real Ale friends for supporting the day.
