Engaging school pupils with Kinneil heritage: new film features partnership collaboration

Historic Environment Scotland (HES) have worked with schools across Scotland to connect with their local heritage.

Last year, HES sponsored a new pilot project in partnership with Illuminate UK, the Friends of Kinneil, and staff and pupils from Falkirk Council schools.

The children at Deanburn and Bo’ness Public Primary Schools have explored the stories of Kinneil House to learn more about its history. Watch the inspiring film recently published by HES to find out more about the project and its impact, and to hear from the pupils themselves about their experience!

The Friends of Kinneil have congratulated all involved in this project, especially the children, and the support of all partners has been much appreciated. The initiative will help citizens of the future to learn about, interpret and value our heritage, and its relevance to today.

The partnership is continuing to meet and to develop resources to build on and extend the project in the local area. It is hoped that the unique story of this place and its educational value will be preserved and appreciated for generations to come!
