Message from Friends of Kinneil Chair

Maria Ford, the chair of the Friends of Kinneil, sends this message:

I just wanted to thank the people who joined our Big Roman Walk along the Antonine Wall from Polmont on Sunday. The event was well attended and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves.

The walk was part of Big Roman Week, which comes to a close this coming weekend.

We’ll round off in style with a Roman family fun day at Kinneil Estate in Bo’ness on Saturday afternoon (September 20). We’ll have the Roman re-enactment group the Antonine Guard, plus Roman art sessions, table top war games, dress-up opportunities in Kinneil Museum and kite flying in the wonderful surrounding parkland. Kinneil House will also be open for free tours from noon to 3 p.m. (last admission 2.30 p.m.) I hope your readers will come along for a fun day out.

We’ve also got another free walk – this time from Callendar House in Falkirk this coming Sunday (leaving at 2 p.m.) to round off the week, plus a link-up with Doors Open Days to view places like Walting Lodge and other amazing buildings around Falkirk. For full details visit http://www.bigromanweek.org.uk or pick up a brochure in local libraries and museums.
