Historic Kinneil House will be open for free tours this Saturday. There will also be a free family fun day in the grounds of the surrounding Kinneil Estate.
The event is part of the Big Roman Week festival and Doors Open Days in Falkirk district.
You can see inside Kinneil House from noon to 3 p.m. (last admission 2.30 p.m.) on Saturday, September 20. The fun day will run in the grounds from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Roman re-enactment group The Antonine Guard will be setting up camp outside the House (close to the line of the Roman Antonine Wall). Visitors will also be able to check out table-top Roman War Games; try making Roman art (for ages 7 and over); and join members of the Kite Club of Scotland and fly a kite (popular even in Roman times!) You will also get the chance to pop into Kinneil Museum to find out about the Antonine Wall. Dress up clothes and props will also be available for children to explore their Roman roots.
