HISTORIC Kinneil House in Bo’ness is opening its doors for free tours this weekend.
The A listed mansion – which boasts some of the best Renaissance wall paintings in Scotland – will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (April 20 and 21, 2013). The last admission is 3.30 p.m.
A costumed interpreter will also bring to life one of Kinneil’s most famous residents, James Hamilton, 2nd Earl of Arran. Arran became Regent (or acting “King”) during the early reign of Mary, Queen of Scots.
The open event has been organised by The Friends of Kinneil charity and Historic Scotland.
Kinneil Museum in the surrounding Kinneil Estate will also be open both afternoons.
