RESIDENTS are being encouraged to take part in a weekend litter pick.
Bo’ness Community Council has joined forces with The Friends of Kinneil to run the clean-up at Kinneil Estate in Bo’ness on Sunday, April 14, 2013.
Volunteers are being urged to meet at the top car park, by Kinneil Woods, at 10 a.m.
Madelene Hunt, the chair of Bo’ness Community Council, said: "We’re pleased to organise this annual event in conjunction with The Friends of Kinneil. I hope lots of visitors – and dog walkers – will take a free bin bag and collect some litter. You can do as little or as much as you want. All help is welcome."
She added: "We aim to finish around noon and will have some drinks and snacks for volunteers. The event is usually well supported and I hope this year will be no different."
Maria Ford from The Friends of Kinneil, said: "If you’ve got some time to spare on Sunday, April 14 – come along and join in the clean-up.
"Falkirk Council will supply gloves and bags – all you need to do is come along and help. Children are welcome, but must be supervised by an adult."
She added: "We’re organising Kinneil House open days on April 20 and 21, so we want the surrounding Kinneil Estate to look its very best for visitors. Hopefully the clean-up will help."
The event is being organised as part of the wider Clean Up Falkirk and Clean Up Scotland campaigns.
Carole Noble, Head of Environmental Services for Keep Scotland Beautiful – behind the Clean Up Scotland campaign – said: "The Friends of Kinneil and Bo’ness Community Council are to be commended for the difference they are making to Kinneil Estate. They take great pride in their surroundings and people like them are the foundation of our Clean Up Scotland campaign."
