Get set for Walk and Talk Week

Falkirk Council’s first "Walk & Talk Week” kicks off next week – encouraging everyone to explore the great outdoors.

Free events are being held across the district, including a history walk around Bo’ness town centre, and walks around Kinneil Estate. Pick up a leaflet from local libraries and Kinneil Museum – or visit www.falkirk.gov.uk/walkandtalkweek

Bo’ness Councillor Adrian Mahoney, the convener of leisure, tourism and community at Falkirk Council, says: “Walk & Talk Week encourages everyone to be more active, with lots of free events on offer. The event is being delivered in conjunction with our friends at Forestry Commission and the groups Step Forth and Braveheart, which both run regular health walks. We hope it will encourage everyone – of whatever age – to explore the fantastic heritage and natural history we have right on our doorsteps.”

One of the highlights of the week will be a history walk around Bo’ness Town Centre, next Wednesday, June 8, from 7 p.m. Walkers will meet at Seaview Place Car Park. Historian Ian Scott, of Falkirk Local History Society, is set to take walkers around the old graveyards at Corbiehall and tour the historic streets of this outstanding conservation area. For more information contact Ian Scott on 01324 627692.

There is also a chance to help raise money for Strathcarron Hospice on Sunday 12 June 2011. Full details are on the website: www.falkirk.gov.uk/walkandtalkweek
