STEP inside Kinneil House in 2011.
Historic Scotland has joined forces with The Friends of Kinneil charity to run a series of free open afternoons this year. The first will take place in April.
You’ll get the chance to see inside this impressive mansion, which dates back to the 15th century, and boasts some of the best renaissance wall paintings in Scotland.
Five free afternoons have been confirmed. A sixth open day, to tie in with a history walk around the surrounding Kinneil Estate, should take place in July.
(Update – see www.kinneil.org.uk/walk2011 for information on the history walk on July 24.)
The special tours inside the building will take place on:
• Saturday, April 16, 2011 (spring opening);
• Sunday, April 17, 2011 (spring opening);
• Sunday, June 26, 2011 (Bo’ness Fair event);
• Sunday, August 28, 2011 (Kinneil Heritage Day); and
• Sunday, October 30, 2011 (Hallowe’en event).
Each House open day will run from noon to 4 p.m. – except the last event, on October 30, which will run from noon until 3 p.m. The last admission is 30 minutes before closing. All other times, visitors can tour the House grounds – and visit neighbouring Kinneil Museum, which is open throughout the year.
See our Attractions page for more information. www.kinneil.org.uk/attractions – and keep visiting this website for updates on open days.
