A COSTUMED interpreter playing Anne, Duchess of Hamilton helped draw in around 450 people to Kinneil House at the weekend.

Historic Scotland joined forces with The Friends of Kinneil to run special open days on Saturday and Sunday as part of the year of Homecoming. The interpreter brought one of the mansion’s most famous residents back to Kinneil. Duchess Anne substantially enlarged the House in the late 17th century and presided over a large and colourful family.

The weekend event marked the first two of five free open days being held at the House this year.
