Chairwoman Lynn Munro said: “We produced the downloadable calendar last year and it was really popular with local people. We’ve now updated it for 2008 and have made it available to download for free from our website.

“All you need is Adobe Acrobat Reader – found on most modern PCs – to download and view the calendar. You can then print it out on any home laser or inkjet printer.”

Lynn said the calendar was one of a series of free downloads accessible from the Friends’ website.

“There’s a video tour of the estate, a slideshow – and links to useful documents about Kinneil. There’s also news and information about the Friends of Kinneil, which works to promote the estate. We hope local people and visitors find it useful.”

The Friends, set up in 2006, became a charity last year and now has around 70 members.

“The year ahead is going to be a busy time for Kinneil,” said Lynn. “Regular organised health walks have started running from Kinneil Museum, courtesy of the group Stepforth. The Council’s Ranger service is also planning activities during the year.

“And, of course, we plan to continue working with Historic Scotland to provide access to Kinneil House on selected open days – as well as looking at other ways to enhance the estate. In 2007, an amazing 1700 people visited the House in just days – and the feedback we had from the public was fantastic. People really love Kinneil and want to see it better promoted. The Calendar is just one part of our work to do just that.”

Lynn said one of the biggest achievements last year was re-establishing the Kinneil website. “It was completely re-designed in 2007, without any grants or support from the public sector.

“The website provides lots of useful information on the estate and on The Friends of Kinneil. I’d encourage people to visit http://www.kinneil.org.uk/ to download the calendar and check out the other features. There are even online stores, where you can Kinneil-themed merchandise.”
